Cupcakes & Cousins

The kids had a blast visiting their auntie, uncle and cousins tonight for an impromptu Birthday celebration. Zoe is turning 11 tomorrow! She frosted all of these cupcakes all by herself for her classmates to enjoy. YUM!

Sweet Jette

Saturday at the Zoo

We looked at the seals, gazed at the flamingos (Jette loved them,) peeked over at the buffalo and when we got to the capybaras Lars decided to step up on the heavy rope gate so he could see better. When he tried to step out of the rope his shoe got caught and fell off into the water. There was no getting it back! I couldn't find a zoo worker anywhere and finally the gift shop lady gave me a lost & found phone number to call Monday. I am kind of thinking that we just need to suck it up and buy new shoes. Lars moped around in the stroller saying "my shoe...my shoe...i dropped my shoe in the water" the whole rest of the day. I really wish I had taken a picture of the shoe while it was floating but it sunk pretty quickly...so here are a couple of shots of my happy little ones BEFORE the shoe incident.

MORE wax

Would you believe I had another neighborhood vinyl discovery today? It was about a block from where I found the Perry Como record, sitting streetside in the brush. I'm starting to think I could change the direction of this blog and shoot pictures odd things I find on my daily walks with the kids. Or maybe strictly photos of vinyl? hmmm I will have to consider this. Enjoy today's vinyl finding!

Nice day

Finally a nice day! We went to the park and the kids played hard. Jette crawled around in the grass while Lars ran around with the older boys at the playground. I caught Jette in a sneeze! It turned out so funny!

vinyl daydream

When I was out for a walk with the kids last night I came across this broken Perry Como 45 on the sidewalk and I am still just laughing about it.

Upon closer inspection of the record I found a marking noting that it was property of a nearby elementary school. Wow! Is it possible that this elementary school still has vinyl in their library? and if so are these kids really listening to perry como on vinyl??

Well, they're not listening to the "love looks so good on you" single anymore, that's for sure. I'd like to think that the little record-breaking-hooligan was put up to the vandalism by his hippie parents and he's at home spinning some wax he can appreciate a little more right now. I'm crossing my fingers, hoping not to come across pieces of Blonde on Blonde or the White Album on my next walk.

my big boy

...really needs a hair cut. Again! His hair grows like crazy and it's so funny that I don't even notice how orphan-ish my kids are looking until I look at the pictures. Ha!

Long Day

Chad was sick all morning on his ONE day off this week. So it made for a really long day trying to kill time with the kids. We ran errands and went to the park and how is it that I always want to take pictures but i ALWAYS manage to forget my camera?

We ended up out early in the evening and I had my Holga in the car. The sun was going down so I snapped some random shots of the capitol through the trees and I'm hoping they turn out cool. I probably won't develop that film until next weekend. I'm so excited to see what it looks like! I am all about my toy camera but pretty much have no idea how to use it yet.

So until I get today's photos developed I'm going to post this random shot of parliment in London because the sky looks just like the sky looks here right now and the light reflected on the water makes me happy. It's an oldie but a goodie.

Easter

Well I blew it and spaced out on photos on Easter Sunday. It was just the kind of day where we didn't even change the kids out of their pajamas and into "real" clothes until a lot of the day was gone. Then by the time Jette got changed into her Easter dress she was getting crabby and ready for a nap. The photo of Lars and Jette together is the ONLY shot of both of them on Easter this year. LOL!
